Staying Single Until You Meet The One Is Terrible Advice

Priscilla Du Preez

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being single. It’s often filled with some of the most exciting, exhilarating times. I’m not suggesting you bypass this time. Embrace it. Lean into it and have fun.

But if you hope to eventually meet the love of your life, to meet someone you can carve a life with, you need to actually

I’m not advocating you waste your time on people you’re not interested in. I’m not saying you should settle and end up in unfulfilling relationships. I’m not saying you have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable.

Of course, listen to your heart and your gut.

But you have to date to find people.

You have to put yourself out there.

You have to meet a few wrong ones to meet someone

And yes, that means heartbreak. That means disappointment. That means questioning.

When you’re single, it’s good to focus on yourself. To indulge your own interests and passions, to nourish your soul. When you’re single, go out with friends and cultivate platonic relationships, build better bonds.

But when you decide you want to find someone, when you’re ready to add a plus one into your life, you need to go out there.

You’ll have to go on some mediocre dates. You might even kiss a few frogs.

No one is going to magically knock on your door and sweep you off your feet.

You need to go outside first. You need to say hello. You need to give people a chance. Staying single just means one thing, you’re single.
